INTRODUCING THE 2020 CHEVROLET CORVETTE STINGRAY

A dream 67 years in the making

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is re-imagined to bring customers new levels of performance, technology, craftsmanship and luxury. It’s lean and muscular, with an athletic sculptural shape conveying a sense of motion and power from every angle. The Stingray’s heart is Chevy’s next-generation 6.2L Small Block V-8 LT2 engine, producing up to 495 horsepower (369 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque — the most horsepower and torque for any entry Corvette.

A mid-engine masterpiece

When you completely reimagine a car as iconic as Corvette, you get a beautifully sculpted mid-engine sports car that makes a powerful statement. Not your everyday car, but a car you want to drive every day. And with aerodynamic components integrated throughout, its gorgeous form is functional.

A New Profile In power

The mid-engine configuration provides incredible visibility, responsiveness and driving feel. The new engine placement provides rear weight bias, meaning more power is directed to the rear wheels where it matters most. And with the windshield now over the front wheels, there’s improved downforce without the need for a front air dam.

More to Meet your eyes

With the engine in the rear, engineers were able to lower the cowl, hood, instrument panel and steering wheel for the utmost in forward vision. Every detail is designed to provide a natural and immersive driving experience that’s tailored to you. Each button exactly where it needs to be for comfortable, intuitive use. And with three seat combinations to choose from, there’s sure to be one that perfectly suits you.

Pure and Precise Shifting

Every part had to earn its way onto this car, and the standard dual-clutch transmission is no different. It features lightning-quick shifts, combining the smoothness of an automatic with the action of a manual. And since there’s no deceleration between shifts, your lap times will benefit too.

A heart that’s always racing

What happens when you set out to improve upon a storied legacy of small block engines? You get the all-new 6.2L LT2 V8. A no-compromises powerhouse that’s been architecturally transformed to sit lower for improved handling. It’s equipped with a standard dry-sump system for improved performance when g-forces are high and features Continuously Variable Valve Timing that further improves performance.

The Right Mode for Every Road

With the turn of a meticulously designed dial, everything changes. The Driver Mode Selector lets you electronically calibrate up to 12 performance variables to ready your Stingray for any road. And all-new My Mode and Z-Mode let you personalize performance even further, allowing you to save settings between drives.

Get Your Vehicle Road Trip Ready – #FindNewRoads

At Bob Bell we want you to get the most out of your vehicle, it is after all in the Chevrolet motto to Find New Roads! But, with each road travelled and discovered you’ll want to ensure your vehicle is performing at its optimal level.  That’s where we come in, and why our factory trained technicians are here to help during your regular scheduled maintenance. However, when it comes to preparing for a road trip, here are some things that you can do at home to double check that your vehicle is ready to make the drive!

winding-road-1556177_1920

1. Oil Check

You’ll want to consult your vehicle records and determine when the last time you had an oil change was? If it was recently, move on to point #2. If it’s been a while, we encourage you to either book in for an oil change or facilitate one yourself (if you’re equipped to do so) as road trips put additional stress on your engine, therefore you’ll want to make sure your oil is topped up (and new).

60021560_2608538049191037_996360252926459904_o

2. Fluid Check

As there are multiple areas in your engine that require fluids, we would encourage you to check all of the following:

  • Windshield Wiper Fluid
  • Engine Coolant
  • Brake Fluid

Keeping these fluids in check is a preventative measure and should be a part of your regular maintenance routine.

SBF washer fluid level switch

3. Air Pressure (Tires) + Tire Tread

Checking your vehicle’s tires before a long road trip is one of utmost importance, as your tires are in physical contact with the road. We would ask that you start by checking each tires air pressure individually as they may be at different levels. Please note that each vehicle is different when it comes to where you tire pressure should be marked at. We recommend consulting your owners manual or consulting the tires on the vehicle as they should be marked for your reference.

It’s important to note that it is possible to overfill your tires, which may lead to accidents on the road. On the other hand, it is also possible to underfill your tires. In order to avoid both potential outcomes, we recommend that you utilize an air pressure gauge when filling your tires, in order to ensure enough air has been consumed to meet the desired rating.

6781f585b772436ab21bc703951de5d5_c36x0-568x427

Now, let’s check that tire tread! There are a few ways to consult your tires and assess that they have enough tread to make the journey. You can employ the good old fashioned Penny test, which is as simple as it sounds. Place a penny into the tread, if you can see all of Lincoln’s head then your tires are under 2/32 inch and should be replaced. It’s as simple as that!

If you don’t have any change lying around, there is another method.  You can work with the tread wear indicator on your tires. These indicators should be located in multiple spots and will indicate visibly if you are under 2/32 inch and due for a change.

4. Air Filter Check

An important factor to any good pre-road trip check is assessing your air filter, as it needs to supply clean air to your engine in order for other moving parts to function appropriately. Additionally, this filter is responsible for providing you with clean air in your vehicle as well.

Air filters are found behind the front glove box or within the engine, please consult your vehicle’s manual for exact placement.

cp-silverado-6-2l-cold-air-intake-system-vehicle-upgrade-84561598

5. Car Lights and Signals

It’s important that when you are signalling to go left, your vehicle ensures everyone else on the road knows as well. That’s why before any trip you should check all your headlights, indicators, reverse lights and tail lights. If you are looking to be extra prepared, pack extra lights in case one goes out during your journey.

2018-silverado-1500-gal-ext-04

6.  Battery Life

If you can’t remember the last time you changed your battery it’s likely time for a change, however, we encourage you to consult your vehicle service records or call us to check. An indicator of the battery starting to give out is the responsiveness of your starter. If the vehicle seems slow to catch on, it might be time to switch it out.

certifiedservice-5

There you have it! These are our top recommendations for a pre-road trip check.  A car wash wouldn’t hurt either, but we’ll leave that one up to you to decide!

If you have any further questions about vehicle maintenance of you require assistance checking your vehicle before a road trip, call us in the service centre, we’re always happy to help!

Do you love what you’ve read thus far? But have an itch for more power, features or flair? Then SS or ZL1 may be what you’re looking for!

(1SS, 2SS) – Only Performance

It’s all about power on this tier, the 1SS comes with a standard 6.2L 455-hp V8 engine presented on 20-inch aluminium wheels with summer-only performance run-flat tires, Brembo®performance 4-wheel disc brakes and LED projector-style headlamps with LED signature lighting accents. 2019-camaro-trims-03

We know what you’re thinking. Damn. The 2SS is perfect.

Well, it is. We couldn’t deny that. But, perfection is the enemy of innovation. This statement brings us to the introduction of our final trim, the Camaro ZL1.

Ok, let’s bring it back, we’re almost done.

Winter Driving Tips

On February 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow around 7:30 am and did not see his shadow, predicting an early spring for us all. We don’t think that Mother nature got the message. Take control of the winter roads with these Winter driving tips from the Maryland Department of Transportation.

Tires

Blog1

Regardless of the season, you should inspect your tires on a monthly basis and before long road trips.

  • Check your tire pressure – ensuring that your tires are inflated to your vehicle’s suggested PSI. You can find this information either in your owner’s manual or on the label inside your driver’s door.
  • All-season tires are not winter tires. All-season tires begin to lose their grip below 45 degrees Fahrenheit and are not as effective in heavy snow and ice.
  • Tires marked with a snowflake are designed for snowy conditions and offer excellent snow traction performance. Winter tires provide better traction, handling and braking. They can shorten braking distances by as much as 25%.
  • Look closely at your tread and replace tires with uneven wear or insufficient tread.

Survival Kit

winter_safety_checklist_survival_kit_caa

No one expects to be stranded on the side of the road. Be prepared for winter driving by keeping a survival kit in your vehicle. Below are some suggestions of items you should keep in your trunk.

  • Gloves, blankets and extra cloths
  • Cell phone and charger
  • Know what to do in an emergency
  • Jumper cables, flashlight, and warning devices such as flares and markers
  • Extra food, water and first aid kit
  • Snow shovel, broom, and ice scraper
  • Abrasive material, such as sand or kitty litter, in case your vehicle gets stuck in the snow

Check Your Vehicle

Blog2

Winter weather is hard on your vehicle and its engine. Here are some tips to help you make sure your vehicle is up to the challenge.

  • Service your vehicle with a Winter tune-up or other routine maintenance
  • Keep an extra jug of high-quality “no-freeze” windshield-washer fluid
  • Keep your gas tank at least half-full to prevent your gas line from freezing.
  • Check your battery
  • Check your cooling system
  • Check your windshield wipers and defrosters

Cleaning Your Vehicle

mohippo_barometerheroimage

Did you know that it is illegal in Maryland to drive with snow on the roof of your car? Safe winter driving starts before you drive off from your driveway.

  • Clear snow and ice from all windows, headlights, mirrors, hood and the roof. After starting your vehicle, wait for the window to defrost completely to allow clear visibility all around.
  • Snow or ice left on your vehicle will blow up onto your windshield while driving and will even blow off your vehicle onto the cars behind you potentially damaging their vehicle or blocking their view.

Practice Safe Winter Driving Habits

winter-road-maintenance

Since every vehicle handles differently during different road conditions, it’s important to take the time to get to know your vehicle under winter weather driving conditions,

  • Practice cold weather driving when your area gets snow, it’s best to practice on an empty lot in full daylight.
  • Drive slowly as it’s harder to control or stop your vehicle on a snow-covered or an icy road.
  • If your vehicle has anti-lock brakes, apply firm pressure, if you have non-anti-lock brakes, pump the brakes gently.
  • Steer into the skid. If you find yourself in a skidding, remain calm and ease your foot off the gas carefully steering in the direction you want the front of your vehicle to go.

Prepare for Driving

WinterDriving_iStockphoto-e1354551763637

The safest strategy is to avoid driving in bad weather conditions. If that isn’t a choice, plan before getting on the road. Driving in poor weather usually takes a lot longer and is more stressful.

  • Tell someone where you are going, your route and your estimated time of arrival.
  • Allow for extra to get to your destination.
  • Be alert, well rested and sober behind the wheel.
  • Wear your seat belt.
  • Stay on main roads and drive carefully by matching your speed to the road and weather conditions.
  • “Know Before you Go.” Call 511 or 1-855-GOMD511 or visit: http://www.md511.org for current travel information.

Winter is an optimal time to slow down and snuggle in. Doing so may not just make you feel happy; it might also help to keep you safe. So many collisions can be easily prevented by driving cautiously, alertly and patiently. It only takes a moment to change a life forever.

Fall Driving Tips

Fall is arguably the most beautiful season. It’s a great time to go for a drive, just to enjoy the scenery. As the weather and road conditions change with the season, the following Fall driving safety tips will help keep you safe. This will give you the opportunity to enjoy the cool crisp air and the beautiful colors of the autumn leaves.

The Dangers of Leaves on the Roads

It is important to treat leaves with the same caution as ice, as they can be just as slippery when wet. When driving you should try to avoid the piles of leaves along the edge of the road, as they can obscure hidden hazards. It is also critical to slow down when driving on a road covered with leaves, especially around turns.

leavesonroad

Adjust for Fewer Hours of Daylight

In the Fall there are fewer hours of daylight. As the hours of daylight decrease, chances are you’ll be doing more driving in dusk or dark conditions. You may even be commuting to or from work in the dark. In the fading light of dusk, it is more difficult to see pedestrians, animals and children, so be sure all your lights are on, working properly and kept clean.

daylight

Changing Weather Conditions

As Fall progresses, the overnight temperatures tend to drop, often below the freezing point. Give yourself extra time to clear your windows of frost/ice before heading out on the road. Make sure your wipers and defrosters are working as they should. While driving, be aware of frost or black ice on the roadways, especially when driving on bridges, or in shaded areas.

1140-fall-driving-tips.imgcache.rev901e9385c01aa10956591e14fb378d86

Cope with Glare

Always keep a pair of sunglasses in your vehicle. When the sun is hanging low in the sky, it can be blinding if you’re driving toward it.  Sun glare can impact your sight for seconds after exposure, making it hard to see pedestrians, oncoming traffic, or the car in front of you. Keeping your windshield clean is also very important as dirt on the glass can amplify the glare.

Safe driving practices are important through the year. We all should get out and enjoy the season before the winter drives us all indoor.  Be aware of the unique autumn driving hazards and follow our Fall driving safety tips for a safer and more pleasant drive.
